Watch CBS News Sunday, for a piece on the QB position, its role in culture, and its unique fame and pressures. Featured: Joe Willie, Luck, Young — and yours truly! We talked, and of course, threw. I told reporter Jim Axelrod that see — I *knew* one day I’d be throwing passes on Sundays on CBS. ;)

As someone who has subscribed, consumed, competed against, admired, and interned at the Washington Post sports section, I’m still in shock that the powers that be are *walking away* from a known, rabid, paying audience. Thinking foremost of all those affected today, even those who survived. But also

NEWS from @bradyhenderson and me: The Seattle Seahawks will go up for sale after Super Bowl LX. They could set a record for an NFL team price: $7-$8 billion, per a rival team exec.

A stunner from @dvnjr.bsky.social and me: Bill Belichick is not a first ballot Hall of Famer. He didn't get elected this year. The 8-time champion failed to 40 out of the 50 votes required for induction.

"Breaking In with Kevin Fishbain" episode 42

Guest: @sethwickersham.bsky.social

Learn how the author of "American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback" got his start in sports journalism. Really fun conversation that goes from Alaska to covering the Rams-Titans Super Bowl as a college student

To add to the playoffs officiating conversation: On the kickoff to start the second half, when the Panthers kicked to the Rams, the ball was placed at the 40-yard line, rather than the rule-mandated 35.

Love generally played well and the Packers lost as a team, but hours later, the miss to Musgrave stands out. He had him and the ball wasn’t even close enough to draw a flag.

From my book: For whatever reason, Caleb Williams has often been a precocious slow starter. But when he heats up, watch out.

Harbaugh’s Ravens were one of the toughest opponents during the Patriots dynasty — until one moment, when Belichick set a trap for his opponent and opposing coach.

I think — think — that this is the first time John Harbaugh has been fired as a coach at any level. He’s 63. He’s been coaching since 1984. Amazing, given his chosen profession. Not, given his ability.

The Tomlin-Harbaugh rivalry has such a describable feel: cold, bruising, raw, high stakes, but maybe not the highest. Both have won with different stars and styles. The Pats, Chiefs and Peyton define the past 20 AFC years, but what these two have done is still remarkable.

One of the reasons the Falcons didn’t hire Bill Belichick in 2024, per me @dvnjr.bsky.social and Jeremy Fowler, is that they didn’t want to be searching for a new head coach in two years, after he’d presumably break the wins record.

Inside Bill Belichick's failed offseason job hunt
As the NFL has moved on from this year's firing-and-hiring cycle, two questions remain: Why is Bill Belichick suddenly and seemingly unemployable? And will he coach again?

Matthew Stafford has been more than a proficient quarterback, against top competiton. He’s been an artist. He is the MVP.

Gonna miss what I'll always call Rich Stadium. It was on the funky side, and had some real magic. Weird stuff happened there. 35-3. David Treadwell hitting the upright twice. Even the Ferguson-Hooks Hail Mary. New venues have all the frills but that quality is always elusive.
