I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Excellent conversation on the F-stop podcast with Jason Hatfield about intersection of landscape photography, endurance, ethics and the controversial topic of gatekeeping sensitive locations. Really good listen.

Exploring new terrain over the past couple of weekends, as hundreds of acres of new hiking space have opened up at Estero Americano near Bodega Bay. Here, sun going down over the outlet of the Estero into the sea.

Hah! A blast from the past - just got email from LiveJournal congratulating me for having an account there for 25 years. Of course it failed to mention that my last post was in 2002. I honestly had no idea they still existed. But man we had some fun there back in the day, didn't we?

Just posted a new article over in my Framespotting Substack, about the decisions that go into deciding which of your images is worthy of printing (vs keeping/posting). There’s some secret sauce there, but it’s kind of an intangible formula.

What is print-worthy?
When deciding what photographs to print and sell, one has to imagine (or predict) what the general public is likely to want to hang over the couch. That's been harder than I thought.

Wandering exhibits at Griffith Park, I was awed to see the old equipment that had been in use in the 60s and 70s still on display. Loved controller labels, like "Latitude Motion" and "Transit of Mercury." I remembered the old tesla coil throwing lightning bolts, but it was quiet in its cage now.
