Proud Granite Stater serving New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate. Former Governor. Mother & Grandmother. Pats & Red Sox Fan. Outdoor enthusiast.
Sen. Shaheen on @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social: "Donald Trump is playing right into the hands of Russia and China."

"Anything that splits the transatlantic alliance, anything that splits NATO, only benefits our adversaries."

As I made clear on @todayshow.com with Senator Murkowski, there is no need to pay for something when both Denmark and Greenland have said they're willing to partner with us on whatever the interests of the United States are.
January 16, 2026 at 9:11 PM
This morning, I joined @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social from Denmark to emphasize the strong bipartisan support that exists for our U.S.-Denmark relationship and the continued importance of NATO participation.
January 16, 2026 at 4:37 PM
With too many families struggling to afford everyday essentials like energy and health care, the President should be focused on lowering costs, not buying Greenland with $700 billion of taxpayer money.

For too long the U.S. has been dependent on China for critical minerals that power our economy and strengthen our security.

That’s why I'm introducing a bipartisan bill to create a new Strategic Resilience Reserve to bolster U.S. critical minerals supply.

With the ACA tax credits gone, many Americans are seeing the soaring cost of health insurance and are choosing to opt out entirely. That harms our health care system.

Democrats have been clear - Republicans in Congress and the White House must join us and act.
January 14, 2026 at 8:59 PM
I’ve already heard from families across New Hampshire about how unaffordable health care has become since the expiration of the ACA tax credits. One of my constituents from New Boston, Darla, will see her family’s premiums spike by $15,000 a year.

With just about one day left to enroll in health care coverage through the ACA, 1.4 million Americans have already lost health care coverage due to the surging cost of premiums.

We must keep working to find a bipartisan solution that will lower health care costs for families.

The Trump Administration is cutting billions of dollars that help fight the substance use and mental health crises. This completely misguided move will threaten New Hampshire's progress towards increasing access to treatment and endanger the lives of Granite Staters.

Trump administration sends letter wiping out addiction, mental health grants
The Trump administration sent hundreds of letters Tuesday terminating federal grants supporting mental health and drug addiction services. The cuts could total as much as $2 billion.

Persistent and often dangerous staffing shortages at federal prisons nationwide cause safety concerns for BOP personnel and incarcerated individuals alike. My new, bipartisan bill will help ensure staff within our federal prisons are paid adequately for the critical work they do.
Sen. Shaheen calls for corrections officers to get pay bump, amid 'catastrophic' working conditions
New legislation would address the historic staffing crisis at federal correctional prisons by offering a 35% pay adjustment to officers, Shaheen said.

It was great to get a tour of the newly renovated, historic Gafney Home last week.

This energy efficient, affordable housing for older adults is a great example of New Hampshire’s ingenuity when it comes to tackling rising costs.
January 13, 2026 at 8:22 PM
Americans are looking to Congress to take tangible actions to help ease the affordability crisis. Restoring the ACA tax credits remains one of the best ways that we can do that.

I'm going to keep working in the Senate to find a bipartisan solution.
January 12, 2026 at 10:05 PM
The President's misguided actions are keeping energy and home heating costs high instead of lowering them.

I appreciated hearing directly from folks in Rochester about the challenges they're facing as a result, especially during New Hampshire’s cold winters.
January 9, 2026 at 9:37 PM
On this Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, I'm thankful for the men and women in New Hampshire who make sacrifices every day to keep Granite Staters safe. I remain committed to ensuring those in uniform have the resources and training needed to protect and serve our communities.
January 9, 2026 at 8:13 PM
Early in my career, I learned that Americans need 3 things to feel secure: A roof over their head, a good-paying job and support in case they get sick.

That's why I'm not giving up on the fight to address the cost of living and ensure Americans can afford their health insurance.

Today’s House vote is an important and bipartisan step towards finding a serious solution to extend the ACA tax credits.

I have long fought to address PFAS contamination in New Hampshire so I'm proud to introduce a bipartisan, bicameral bill that would improve care for patients who have been exposed to PFAS by ensuring health care providers have access to updated guidance.

Shaheen bill aims to protect people exposed to PFAS
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, introduces bipartisan legislation to protect people exposed to PFAS, like thousands were at Pease in Portsmouth.

I'm deeply disturbed by the shooting in Minneapolis today.

Immigration enforcement should be focused on going after violent criminals to make our communities safer, not hindering local law enforcement and sowing chaos.

There must be a full investigation into what happened.

Why is the President talking about investing tax dollars in Venezuela when Americans are worried about how they're going to pay for health care, housing, energy and groceries?
January 7, 2026 at 4:31 PM
Costs are rising across the board for Americans. My constituents want the President to focus on their everyday concerns rather than pursuing costly nation-building adventures around the world.
January 7, 2026 at 4:30 PM
It’s not too late to extend the ACA tax credits that Americans rely on to make health care more affordable.

I’m pursuing every bipartisan possibility to reduce health care costs for the millions of Americans who use these tax credits.
January 6, 2026 at 10:11 PM
On the 5 year anniversary of the shameful January 6 attacks on the Capitol, I helped introduce a pair of bills that ensure violent rioters cannot receive taxpayer funds.
January 6, 2026 at 9:35 PM
It’s been 5 years since the President incited a violent riot at the Capitol in an attempt to overturn a free and fair election.

January 6, 2021, is a stain on American history. Today, I'll be keeping the more than 100 Capitol Police officers who were injured in my thoughts.

The commonsense energy circuit riders pilot is an effective way to help communities take on clean energy and energy efficiency projects that lower costs. I'm proud that we were able to bring the successful model run by Concord’s Clean Energy NH to the national level.
New Hampshire clean energy program goes national with federal funds
In a rare federal win, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen secured $3M to expand the program, which helps towns and small businesses adopt clean energy and save money.

While Americans are already facing an affordability crisis, Republicans in Congress are allowing health care costs to skyrocket for millions.

The ACA Tax Credits will expire in mere days, but Congress can still act if Republicans come to the table.

With ACA subsidies set to lapse, millions of Americans face a painful spike in health plan costs
"I don't know how I'm going to pay for this," said one person with an Affordable Care Act plan that will cost her $1,100 a month starting in January.
