What a great find! As a paleographer, I can't help but observe that if this were French I would have dated the not-yet-Gothic script to the mid-12th century. In Norway, the transition from Romanesque to Gothic happens later, hence the tentative 13th-c. date. www.sciencenorway.no/cultural-his...

This is a panel on “Book History with Internet Data”, with 8 panelists from different IMLS/iSchools, funded by SHARP. Over the past two decades, a variety of internet-based datasets have emerged related to books, reading habits, and reader communities—ranging from crowd-sourced genre tags and online reviews to platforms like BookTok. These datasets are increasingly valuable for research in reading and readership, often complementing traditional book history approaches. However, they also raise new questions and challenges. To explore these opportunities and foster interdisciplinary collaboration, this panel will bring together eight panelists from diverse fields to discuss questions, such as: How can we critically understand the relationship between Internet-based “book” data and traditional research materials? What are the methodological challenges and potential pitfalls of using digital data in book history research? How can interdisciplinary approaches enrich the analysis of Internet book and reader datasets? Call for Papers 18th International Conference on Medieval and Renaissance Scottish Language, Literature, and Culture (ICMRSLLC) University of Bristol, 1-4 July 2026 We are delighted to invite papers for the 18th International Conference on Medieval and Renaissance Scottish Language, Literature, and Culture (ICMRSLLC), first established in 1975. We welcome proposals for papers that discuss any aspects of medieval and renaissance Scottish language, literature, and culture, and papers that reflect on these fields from different time periods, languages, and places. Keynote speakers: Roderick Lyall (Emeritus Professor of Literatures in English, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) Anna Groundwater (Principal Curator, National Museums Scotland) Steven Reid (Professor of Early Modern Scottish History and Culture, University of Glasgow) You may submit either an individual paper proposal (in which case the organisers will compile proposals into panels); or a complete panel of 3 papers at 20 minutes each. The conference also welcomes alternative panel formats (e.g. roundtables, flash panels, work in progress sessions), but these will need to managed by the proposer and proposed in full, with details of all participants. Individual papers: 20 minutes Panel sessions (typically featuring 3 papers with time for questions, or in alternative formats): 90 minutes.
