New Brunswick assessed property values have increased 58% in the past 10 years. Since 2016, NB property values grew from $64b to $97b. 84% of that is residential properties.

Since 2021, that increase is up 49%!

Today, the NB gov't issued an update on their property tax assessment overhaul. This paper includes a summary of the public feedback (85% say system is unfair), as well as sharing some key facts about New Brunswick's unique property tax regime.

The cost of a patient occupying an acute care bed at a hospital is $800 per day.

At last count, there were 677 patients in NB hospitals waiting to be discharged to a nursing home or long term care.

That adds up to $541,600 per day.

It will be a quiet week in the chamber at the Legislature, but behind the scenes everyone will be getting ready for the fall sitting to kick off next Tues, Oct 21!

The fall session is planned to go until Dec 12 (with breaks during Nov 10 and 24 weeks).
