Being born in DC is why I'll never raise my future kids anywhere that they are a minority unless it's abroad (and even that's pushing it). I want my kids to know that they don't have align with ytness or other themselves to be anything, do anything, or try anything.
Growing up in DC and PG country was a blessing b/c not only did I have a strong Black foundation at home I saw Black people everywhere doing everything! Looking, speaking, dressing, and expressing in a number of ways! I took it for granted at first but not everyone grows up w that.

When my ex and I were still together, her nephew went to prison. Since then, his mom, uncle, and grandma have passed. He got out today and called me first. I told him to call his aunt and he didn't understand why calling me is not the same as calling her anymore. He's heartbroken.

We've never seen Wicked, but my wife and I were Cynthia and Ariana for Halloween and now feel obligated to see the movie(s) after getting so many laughs from the cringey press tour videos. Tonight we're going to a double feature at a drive in movie theater.
