We thought it’d be too crazy to be true, that Russia could actually have set this whole plan in motion. That it’s actually all part of the Kremlin’s plan to grow in power. To get America to drink the Kool-aid. To divide and conquer the world. Rather than exert influence through universal values and allies, the way we’ve done ever since WWII to keep the peace. But @anneapplebaum2000 reported today in the Atlantic that this is, in fact, looking more and more like the truth. And she cited Fiona’s hearing as a prime example. For those who don’t remember her, Fiona Hill was a top Russia advisor during the first Trump administration, and served on the National Security Council. During this 2019 House hearing—which was redacted and made public—she said Moscow made it abundantly clear, through informal channels like commentators and newspaper articles, that the Kremlin would agree to turn a blind eye to the United States expanding its influence in our part of the world, if we’d agree to do the same in theirs. They were so persistent in their messaging that she was sent to Moscow to tell the Kremlin "to knock it off".

Liz Oyer, a former DOJ pardon attorney, is raising the alarm after the Justice Department refused to investigate the killing of Renee Good. The decision came from Todd Blanche, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer and now Deputy Attorney General, who offered no explanation before publicly calling protests in Minnesota an “insurrection.” That word is not rhetorical. It is the legal trigger for invoking the Insurrection Act and deploying military force against civilians. Hours later, Trump echoed the same threat himself. This is not about partisan politics. It is about civil rights and the rule of law. When the DOJ declines to investigate a killing and then frames public protest as terrorism, it signals a shift from accountability to intimidation. Liz Oyer says the response cannot be silence. The public can and should demand a real civil rights investigation and insist the Justice Department follow the law. Speaking out, peacefully and clearly, is not radical. It is the most basic form of patriotism.#LizOyer #ToddBlanche #DonaldTrump #ReneeGood #JusticeDepartment #InsurrectionAct #CivilRights #RuleOfLaw #Accountability—Important updates on Minnesota and a call to action.
