You aren't alone in this. Most people on disability benefits could work if they were properly accommodated but employers often do not see the value in that.
When I applied for disability benefits I showed a pattern of simply being unable to keep employment.

I wish I was allowed to get married. if I do, I lose my disability benefits. the govt assumes that disabled people who get married are then the property and responsibility of their spouse, and that we no longer need support if we get married. we do not have marriage equality in canada or the us

This was the same thing I got. And they KNOW about my #PPMS, #ADHD, and #PTSD.
Disabled people in Canada can't even get married w.o losing gov supports, common law partners can even have issues with benefits.
I've een diagnosed since 2023, still no disability benefits.
