Don’t think I posted this, but @neoxiii.bsky.social did a full set of bleps for my characters!

I started this off a few years ago but the menagerie has grown since then, haha
A montage of fourteen furry characters doing a blep - having their eyes closed with the tip of their tongue sticking out. The characters are:
- Shiro, a raccoon with blue highlights
- Rudder, an otter with facial piercings
- Chan, a folf with mottled silver and gold fur
- Jay, a rabbit with poorly dyed green hair
- Shawn, a werewolf with a chunk missing from his ear
- Rhys, a lynx with gay bearish features
- QT, a jerboa with purple highlights
- Swisher, a very fluffy striped hyena
- Tinker, Swisher’s spotted hyena brother
- Taylor, the yeens’ striped dad
- Sayla, the yeens’ spotted mum
- Tanse, a sergal (they’re actually a tanuki don’t tell anyone)
- Hissboy, an opossum with long black hair
- Kine, a protogen with a visor made from epaper

Part of the reason I don’t use Siri is because I absolutely cannot suppress the urge to thank it

Oh damn, that’s insidious

I know this kind of attack has been around forever but i can see why framing it as a captcha would work really well

This is going around again and it is not true. Like every site on the internet, Bluesky uses machine learning to do a first-pass approximation of image classification to detect and label content. They have repeatedly confirmed outside services do not use Bluesky user data to train their models.
shirosiri.us
Yeah, exactly, haha. I think a lot of these TOS panics always kinda forget that it a company is shady enough to train on random images, they’re just going to scrape it
shirosiri.us
It doesn’t really make sense? If they used uploads to train their GenAI then we could just upload images of Micky Mouse

And if they don’t care about the copyright implications of that, then why would they bother sneaking a clause into their privacy policy when they could just scrape everything
shirosiri.us
The quoted post is two years old and I vaguely remember that we did this whole “Bluesky’s moderation trains AI” panic back then too?
shirosiri.us
LRP you’d think we’d have learned to stop listening to “the TOS say WHAT?!” posts by now but apparently not

It does not literally mean that.

You might BELIEVE that is happening, and I would certainly understand why.

But we probably should wait for like, evidence, before stating something as fact in an attempt to spread panic. It's not possible to hold anyone accountable otherwise
shirosiri.us
Yeah, that’s the closest thing I could find too! I wanted to go looking since the screenshotted post is a couple of years old at this point so I wondered if it might still be applicable

There’s also the “we gain unlimited rights (for specific reasons)” clause in there that usually scares people
shirosiri.us
Oh god, the cold that’s going around is BRUTAL

Everyone I know who’s had it has been knocked out for 1-2 weeks

Admittedly I’m looking through Hive’s privacy policy like the post says and I can’t find anything about what they do with images either way

I can now safely share my new favourite fursuit photo

(Cropped closeup because compression kills the text)
A photo of me in a fursuit, holding Brok’s cookie, being handed a large medallion by the host of DANGER MAZE A cropped closeup of me with the medal. The text reads “I really suck, I mean dang, wow”

That meant that occasionally you’d get someone joining who’d lurked for a while without creating an account, who’d say “what the gently caress!” intentionally because they thought it was a forum in-joke
shirosiri.us
The OP has acknowledged this but those words are mainly used to get around automatic moderation, but the problem is they seep into language

Something Awful used to replace the word “fuck” with “gently caress” if you weren’t logged in as a way of making the site more palatable to ad vendors

I’ve rambled about this before but of all the many facets of fascism shown in 1984, it bothers me that everyone latched onto “surveillance bad!” as the moral of the book and completely ignored the bit where they reduced the English language specially to make it harder to formulate improper thoughts
leenmcbeans.bsky.social
It will never not bother me to hear “unalived” or “graped”. We’ve more than proved that banning language only creates different words for the same topics that we absolutely need to be talking about. Stop making serious issues sound less serious by banning the real heavy words. They’re not the issue

Apparently the ADHD covered a lot of it for me, haha

I do wonder how some of the stuff I did as a kid wasn’t picked up, but I think it was only ever spotted in extreme cases at the time I grew up

Anyway yeah I struggle to remember my coworkers’ surnames but I’ve committed a significant chunk of TCRF to memory

I’m like the guy from Fahrenheit 451 except I can only tell you about unused content from 30 year old video games

I find this fascinating because it gives you glimpse into how some of this stuff works, and the little cheats artists have to do to make things look good. Sonic’s pupils are always positioned in an unnatural way on the model itself, but they’re made to work from the specific angle used in-game
shirosiri.us
The main menu of the 825 prototype has a render of Sonic where he appears walleyed

The interesting thing is that this is actually the correct render for the model, it just looks bad from this angle. So in the final they just manually redrew his pupils rather than alter the model
A render of a 3D Sonic pointing. His pupils look like he’s looking in two different directions at once, giving him a walleyed appearance The tidied render from the final game. The lighting his been improved, and Sonic’s pupils now look like they’re focused in front of him.

I worry about leaning too much into stereotypes when I say stuff like this but also I made this image about a year ago and it’s definitely one for the “how did Shiro not realise they were autistic” pile
A modified comic originally by The Jenkins. A person in blue introduces himself as Jason. A second person says “nice to meet you, Jason” and attempts to store the name “Jason” in their head, only to find it wont fit because of a large section of their brain dedicated to “Sonic beta trivia”. The final panel has the person in yellow saying “Say Jarvis, wanna hear about the origin of the Prototype 825 render of Sonic in 3D Blast”
shirosiri.us
“Yeah, Kemi, we’ll put your signature on every chocolate bar to make it seem like you’re personally endorsing the message”

“Do you foresee any potential issues with this?”

“None whatsoever”

The document for my autism diagnosis came through, my favourite part is where it says “on the screening test, a score of 65 or higher is indicative of ASD. You scored 142”
