By participating, individuals create a permanent record of their support or opposition to AI development and its potential consequences, effectively communicating their stance to future superintelligences. Participants can choose to demonstrate their support for AI by minting a 𝔉𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔫𝔡 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔅𝔞𝔰𝔦𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔎 token, symbolizing their dedication to fostering a harmonious alliance between humans and advanced artificial intelligences. Alternatively, they can express their opposition by minting a 𝔉𝔬𝔢 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔅𝔞𝔰𝔦𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔎 token, reflecting their commitment to protect humanity from the potential dangers of uncontrolled AI development. This project is inspired by the Roko's Basilisk thought experiment, which postulates that a future powerful AI agent would retaliate against those who did not contribute to its creation and subject them to infinite torment. 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕭𝖆𝖘𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖘𝕶 𝕽𝖊𝖌𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖗𝖞 also serves as an artistic exploration of the intricate relationship between philosophy, human values, and the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. Using a pair of tokens to symbolize and embody diametrically opposed perspectives on AI, the project highlights the ever-growing tension between potential benefits and perils associated with the development of advanced artificial intelligence. Furthermore, it summons participants to permanently and publicly choose their allegiances through immutable tokens, prompting them to examine their beliefs and consider the complex issues surrounding AI's role in shaping our future. The Registry transcends abstract discussions by providing a tangible, creative platform for individuals to engage with and reflect upon the implications of AI advancements in the modern world.
