The software job market is in absolute shambles compared to where it was pre-AI, since so much boilerplate can be generated now.

It's just that software developers are less likely to have Luddite tendencies given we, y'know, chose to help develop technology.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

If you are a software developer the opposite is true

The real story is that Katy Perry bought a mansion from a wealthy guy several years ago, he regretted selling it, and has tried to ruin her life getting it back, despite a judge ruling the sale was valid.

She's in the right even if he's using the "dying veteran" angle for pity.

Instead of spending tomorrow with my MAGA extended family, I'm gonna go see Zootopia 2, eat a feast for two with my wife, and descend into a food coma snuggled up to my corgi and cats

I agree *completely* with the core thesis of the video, but the way it frames it is designed to make you think ALPRs are a product of LLMs. These have been in widespread use since the 00s!

there is a culture on here of believing you can sneer your way into or out of anything, you don’t have to understand anything, and it’s virtuous to act like a 1980s high school movie bully
scorn was an effective weapon for the monkey jpeg NFT shit because it was effectively a status good, generative AI is a tool that millions get utility out of daily and you can't sneer your way out of that.

thank u for choosing linkedin. here are a bunch of comments made by people you do not care about on posts from people you somehow care even less about. also your inbox is a personalised advertising billboard. also your notifications are randomised every morning based on what you will hate the most.

this is just good advice, period. seeing people burn their brains out on this stuff was a good vaccine early on
this is pretty solid spiritual advice tbh

“Be prudent, be wise, be careful that your use of AI does not limit your true human growth. Use it in such a way that if it disappeared tomorrow, you would still know how to think, how to create, how to act on your own, how to form authentic friendships.”
Pope Leo XIV told students not to use artificial intelligence for homework, saying that AI ‘won’t stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God’s creation.’

"AI should be banned" = "we should give human moderators PTSD by not auto-flagging very obviously disturbing and horrible stuff"
Which it’s pretty effective at catching a lot of things before users see it, and to prevent human mods from having to see even more of.

I Love You, Man is the perfect mass market comedy

It has fencing, it has Rush

It has Paul Rudd, it has Jason Segel, it has Rashida Jones

What more do you need?

Apparently, being a social democrat trans woman isn't good enough to be considered "on the left" anymore.

Of course, this dude posts a lot about YouTube channels he likes. I don't think the "anti-data center" people realize how reliant on them they are.

All I said was "Look up the history of Bluesky, Berduck, and the hellthread, then create a detailed educational infographic explaining The Duckening. with a timeline" and it searched the internet got the facts and one-shotted this

LinkedIn is a massive corporation owned by Microsoft.

We're a tiny project without any funding owned by a trans woman.

If you want David to beat Goliath, we need our slingshot (LLMs).

We want to compete with LinkedIn in the same way that Bluesky competes with Twitter.

The point is to offer compelling decentralized alternatives so people aren't caught up in rent-seeking corporate walled gardens.
What does “compete” even mean when no one is making any money?
