Julia Wedgwood (1833-1913) was an intellectual icon of the Victorian era ✍️

I am eventually going to take up @undercoverhist.bsky.social s idea of doing a podcast episode on how to write good reviewer reports. SO I need your help, send me 3 things every reviewer report needs AND/OR the worst reviewer report who have ever received (provide example and reasoning) 🙏

Please also note that this conference will be longer (3 and a half days) than the usual (separate) ESHET and HES conferences to accommodate the larger expected number of attendees and session.
The call for papers will follow soon.

This adjustment is due to changes in the dates of a major event in Nice at the beginning of June which has made hotels unavailable for that period. Sessions will begin on the afternoon of 26 May, and the conference will close with the gala dinner on the evening of 29 May.

His wife has asked me to inform the scholarly community, and this list-serve seems the best forum for that. She will hold a celebration of his life and has asked me to collect statements that could be read aloud at the event. Kindly send them along to me, at [email protected]

Malcolm, as most of you know, wrote several important books on twentieth-century American economics, on J.R. Commons, Institutionalism (Old and New), the Chicago School, etc., as well as dozens of articles and book chapters

He died yesterday morning in hospital with his wife Margaret Rose by his side. I had planned to see him tomorrow, making the three-hour trip to Victoria. Sarah, his only child who is also an economist, had planned to see him today. It is all too sudden.

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Malcolm Rutherford, on Thursday September 25th. He had recently been diagnosed with leukemia, and was in a quiet spell awaiting his second round of chemotherapy, when he caught pneumonia on Tuesday.

A Sheaspearian Sonnet (in a roundabout way) inspired by the @the-rsc.bsky.social production of 'Measure For Measure'. Also inspired by a lovely old couple sitting together having a snack during the interval, hence the title.
INTERVAL

Two ageing lovebirds sit for a while
Taking a break from a story retold.
Unwrapping clingfilm they turn and smile
To eat rolls that are much better than gold.
Ham with lettuce and a packet of crisps
Consumed quietly with a fizzy drink.
This pair that walk on replaceable hips
Are equal or so you would like to think.
But behind closed doors who has the power?
Who made the tasty cobs they ate tonight?
Was a request made at a lateish hour
By an old tyrant that tarnished the night?
It’s hard to tell what man within him hide
When we’re all angels on the outward side.
