"... As diasporic scholars have noted, many newcomers from China and Hong Kong are more likely to seek support through religious communities. Some have joined local Chinese Christian churches that connect them to transnational conservative networks dominated by right-wing ideologies. ..."

While coding transcripts, I’ve seen a gap between social justice education’s target students in HEIs and the diverse learners they serve. Strategies must differ for those long exposed to these ideas versus newcomers from conservative backgrounds. Change is possible, but slow.

Jackson (2015) provides a clear, concise argument for understanding the underlying philosophical frameworks behind our research choices, which is key for structuring a methodology chapter from Research Framework > Research Design > Research Approach > Research Method.

I’ve observed that conversations on these topics can sometimes become dominated by radical, overgeneralized, or highly emotional comments. Unfortunately, these approaches may not always contribute positively to building allyship.

I’ve been reflecting on some backfire moments in EDI and anti-bias discussions. I truly appreciate Dr. Inzlicht’s insightful and professional articulation of these dynamics.

Personally, I hope that thoughts and ideals are expressed through cautious and gentle language, even though it may be verbose, rather than concise and emotional slogans.

"The framework requires a commitment to actively fighting racism; choosing to be simply 'non-prejudiced' or 'non-racist' can unintentionally support passive racism." (Inzlicht, 2025)

Interesting research finding: when trying to reduce prejudice, the how matters as much as the what. Coercive approaches can sometimes backfire. New post exploring the psychology of persuasion and a frustrating academic story.

It's interesting how I spent time searching for a book chapter at the library, only to realize I had already downloaded it two years ago. I found it sleeping in one of my old folders.

I'm still researching this topic, and it appears the debate is ongoing.
It's challenging for me to find out when it started through.

I intentionally replaced the term "stereotype threat" with "meta-stereotype" and "self-stereotype" in my thesis due to the replication crisis in the field, as highlighted by Dr. Michael Inzlicht (www.speakandregret.michaelinzlicht.com/p/revisiting...).

I found it also challenging sometimes to convince the readers/reviewers that one type of stigma exists and it works differently than another type of stigma, which make the former one also need to be research with, although the later one caught more attention from the public/academia.

The panel (Maggie Davis, Dominic Denning, Olga Revzina, Chelsea Boccagno) examined how U.S. federal policy shape suicide-prevention science, highlighting promising methods (neuroimaging biomarkers; real-time digital sensing; causal-inference evaluation) alongside real-world barriers to impact.
