the only thing I'd add is just how badly the media failed to deal with the information age and social media - just as we failed them for not seeing its value, having no media literacy and wanting to pay for quality journalism/news.

so I mailed the vendor I ordered my 3D printer from (established mid sized electronics dealer in GER), as I had only received order confirmation since ~1 week.
they replied really fast - yay
they sent two uncommented screenshots from their Saleforce, showing item availability mid Dec - huh
