Does anyone else eat kiwi fruit with the skin on? 🥝

It’s much more convenient and actually good for your digestive system. I only learned about it recently after someone did it in the office and got a confused reaction but it is a thing.

How bad is shadow work in your engineering team?

We all experience it at some point; that “quick” job that someone asked for that’s not on your todo list that ends up taking a few hours (not including context switching).

So how do you record it?

So you could continue your team health conversations whilst the rest of the internet was on fire.

Do you have a #Parasocial relationship with an influencer or AI?

Cambridge Dictionary have claimed it as the word of 2025 due to the rise of both phenomena, demonstrating the state of society if you will.

This week, after speaking at #TechMidsConf, I realised my people are mostly hanging out in Bluesky.

The conference made me realise how much I miss hanging out with techies, focusing on the positives, with an optimistic view of what is possible.

I miss it. Here’s to more of it.

I currently tend to use "old man yells at" Slack reactions for anything tech related.
It might be a bit troll like but it adds a bit of humour to our conversations.

Obviously.

Looking forward to catching up with @brucel.bsky.social at next month’s #TechMidsConf after way too may years.

I’m expecting there will be rants and giggles.

I know I talk about my work quite a bit, but not usually from a proud one. After some recent feedback training, I realised it’s OK to celebrate when something’s genuinely making a difference.

PETALS has been growing for a while now; no campaigns or ads, just word of mouth through tech teams… (1/3)

I just realised that full time DJs have an inclination to chase the sunshine and summer vibes, gigging the Northern hemisphere and med May-Sep then Southern the rest.

Maybe that’s a personality trait that I’ve overlooked with my DJing hobby and desire to escape the miserable UK weather?

From my experience, there’s definitely a higher percentage of gamers in the engineering teams I’ve worked with over my time so this dungeon party exercise could work quite well to build your next team.

Which data table format do LLMs understand best?

Interesting study to see how accurate and costly different formats perform and the trade offs between them.

It looks like Markdown-KV works best in this case but INI is cheaper.

I wanted to be able to open some links across MacOS in Chrome over my default Safari (as some sites "work better" in Chrome).
I know there are apps available for this but why install more things when an AppleScript can do it?
One quick prompt later and this worked just fine within a few minutes.
