Music! Available now at your local retailer!

I don't usually post music I pick up but I've just been really excited about Music in general again lately so this is me encouraging you to patronize your local record stores and thrift shops, etc.

Ministry, KMFDM, Minus 5, Swans, NIN, R.E.M., Pigface, and even King Crimson into his final days. A lot of people around Seattle have Bill Rieflin stories. Not me, but more interesting people I've encountered over the years. He was taken far, far too early.

Bill Rieflin was a _phenomenal_ musician. His drum work on the title track for Accelerate is my favorite drum work of the post-Bill Berry era of R.E.M., but his career spans so much more than that. He's a huge part of R E.M. history, and a founding pillar of Seattle's industrial metal scene.

Remembering Bill Rieflin, dear friend and consummate musical talent, born on this day in 1960. As Michael said, “his time here with us [was] so precious and golden.”

📻 Turn it up loud! Monster is 31 years young. The band’s ninth studio LP, produced with Scott Litt, was released September 26/27 1994. 🤔 👹 What’s your go-to track?

At one point Mike said there should be a “moratorium” on people in the front holding their phones up.

Also before their encore they all pretended to leave the stage by turning their backs to us for 10 seconds.

All in all, great night. This ends Silent Discographer: From the Road.
The Baseball Project, featuring (from left), Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Steve Wynn, and Mike Mills perform on stage. Not pictured is Linda Pitmon on the drums who was very much there but can’t be seen from this far back. The Baseball Project briefly turn their backs to the audience before their encore.

Adam here. Saw half of our boys tonight at the Minus 5/Baseball Project show in Philly. Mike and Peter walked past me and I almost fainted. Also turns out “Ohtani” makes a killer chorus to a song. I can admit that even if I hate the Dodgers.

I somehow managed to lose my entire audio track for this episode, but if I cranked up Adam's track I could sorta hear myself bleeding through his headphones most of the time. So I isolated that, and re-dubbed it like a maniac. It may be the end of the world as we know it, but damn it, I feel fine.

i joined the lovely hosts of The Silent Discographer last night to talk about the R.E.M. record 'Monster,' and defend it with my life if need be 🧡⚔️🧡

very happy the episode didn't get eaten by computer demons. looking forward to its eventual release!

Phew! Our Monster episode was almost tanked by technical difficulties, but thankfully Dre is a genius and managed to save the day. This was a really fun and heartfelt conversation, I'm so glad we didn't lose it. @emilyemeo.bsky.social was a wonderful guest and we had tons of material to work with.
I just grabbed a picture I already had of the monster cassette on a white desk before I unwrapped it.

This being the height of the band's popularity, there's a ton of supplemental material around it. There's still a ton left we didn't even touch on because at some point it becomes redundant discussion lol. It'll be a while before this goes live, but I'm looking forward to sharing it eventually!

I know no one cares and no one has asked but I am genuinely so sorry about how long this is taking. It's . . . Hard.

an extremely fake screenshot I made in deathgenerator of the mgs1 codec screen. Snake is asking a static channel "what's the frequency, Kenneth Baker, armstech president?"
