wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

What are other direct train connections between different places that are called the same? 😁

Heated Rivalry is really making me spend those tourism dollars in Canada ($7 so far, to be precise). One and half months ago I wouldn't have thought I'd now be sort of seriously looking at doing this 😳 (if it works about financially and time-wise)

Any mutuals interested in getting a (possibly rail-related) postcard from me with a new "125 years of Wuppertaler Schwebebahn" stamp?

DM me if interested :)

I think I haven't posted mine before. I do want to visit everywhere else (some not for a few years though). Maybe I'll manage to tick some new places off this year :)

Headlines decades from now will all be about "someone found the last intact copy of XYZ digital media thought long lost because a person saved it for future generations in an old storage format"

BE that someone with the stuff you love, especially the ephemeral and obscure stuff.

A colleague of mine at my old job is from Jinan. She described her city as "just a small" one lol
Last Saturday, Jinan Metro opened 3 new metro lines (L4, L6, L8), totaling over 85km of new metro which doubled the size of the Jinan Metro to ~182 kilometers. Jinan then followed up this up with the opening of a 36km long suburban mostly grade separated LRT line today. (1/4)

why does plus and plus in French literally mean the opposite of each other? This is very annoying

Refreshter S-3ahn Rheinland 422er. Sieht wieder ganz anders aus als die refreshten S-Bahn Rheinland 423er oder die 'refreshten' S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr 422er 🧐

NRW konsistentes Zugdesign = 0. Mal schauen ob Schiene.NRW daran was ändern wird?

I was looking at Chinese metro lines on Amap (Gaode Maps) and also checked what it depicts Europe like.

On the one hand it polskified Chorleywood (?!), on the other hand it has better detail of Dortmund metro stations than Google Maps??

Strasbourg news media is fascinated with the short sections of the new tram F extension where trams share the car lane. They compare it with the "classic network", i.e. where trams always have their own lanes/right-of-way 😂

what stupid system is this: normal bus replaced by a "taxi bus" after 8 pm. You need to call or book (ancient web form) 30 minutes ahead, but only before 8 pm 🙄

Of course, the night on-demand taxi (Anrufsammeltaxi) that replaces the taxibus after 10 pm can still be booked (different phone number 🤡)

Toronto delivery drivers need to learn from Frankfurt drivers:

parking perfectly so that trams can pass by just about (I got on the next tram through that door that was blocked 80% by the van 🤪)
