So lovely to see so many interesting, pleasant and, er… real people here! If we haven’t met yet, I’m an author, best known for my LGBTQ+ YA novels, but I write middle-grade and picture books too. Here’s to happier times on this platform. 🥰
Me, balancing a stack of my books in my hands, titles include Noah Can’t Even, Noah Could Never, Alex in Wonderland, Heartbreak Boys, You’re the One That I Want, Gay Club, and Boy Like Me

Award-winning author @simonjamesgreen.bsky.social was cancelled from #UK school visits & faced online abuse for his books. For #BannedBookWeekUK, he reminds us of the importance of books in offering young people a window into the diverse world we live in: www.indexoncensorship.org/bannedbooksw...

Agreed, they’re a total menace and someone here really needs to THINK OF THE INNOCENT CHILDREN!

Banned Books Week… so here’s LLAMA GLAMARAMA by me and Garry Parsons - banned in some places in the US because it *checks notes* “promotes a social justice agenda.”

It’s about a llama who likes dancing.
Me, holding up a copy of Llama Glamarama, a picture book featuring a gold foil cover with Larry the llama on the front, and the word ‘banned’ overlaying it.

This week #IAmReading THE DOUBLE LIFE OF TED AMOS by @simonjamesgreen.bsky.social. Can loser Ted reinvent himself as The Cool Kid? Absolutely not… Cringing, heartwarming, but be warned: will make you snort-giggle in public spaces!

And that was my final school author visit of the season! I managed around 70 schools this academic year. I know it feels bleak out there, and it is, in many ways, but also know there are lots of kind, empathetic young people out there who want to fight to make this world better.
Me, in front of a school wall display advertising my author visit. Copies of Finn Jones Was Here, Heartbreak Boys and The Big Ask are visible on the table in front.

122. The Big Ask by @simonjamesgreen.bsky.social
Enjoyable and accessible YA story about two teenage boys from different social spheres going to prom together, offering a sensitive and convincing exploration of homophobia alongside lots of humour and positive messages. @barringtonstoke.bsky.social
