I mean, come on, we’re all going to get arrested at this point.

Let’s just do it at the same time.

Valentine’s Day is about love. Let’s show our love for our fellow neighbor and show up.

Put your body in the movement.

We outnumber them. ✊🏾

ICE has my people. They have Oglalas. They have Mexicanos. They’ve demonized us, the Indigenous ppls of this land, all over again. They did this when they first stumbled onto our continent 534 yrs ago. They kidnapped & terrorized, and they committed their hate under the banner of white supremacy.

Please follow Simon. I’ve learned so much from him about the indigenous perspective🙏
An Indigenous perspective:

Democratic socialism has been here for thousands of years — everyone had a say, everyone had a vote, families didn’t starve, no one was homeless, children didn’t go hungry.

Caring for people wasn’t a hard math.

Who was in charge of Japanese internment? The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Why? B/c many Indian reservations were first established as prison camps. My rez is Prison Camp 334. Google ‘Poston.’ On the Navajo Nation, this was an internment camp within an internment camp. We’ve been here before.

How many times can we, Indigenous folks, say, “We told you so?” before you listen?

How many times have we said you can’t eat gold or drink oil?

How many times have we said the white man’s system will leave families houseless, cold, hungry, hunted, and sick?

How many times do we need to tell you?

It’s not surprising that Natives, this side of the white man’s border, would be arrested and held by the U.S. gov’t because of the color of their skin. It’s not surprising that the U.S. would demand compliance. The U.S. has been doing this for hundreds of years. None of this is new. This is America.

If they don’t shoot you, they’ll arrest you. When they arrest you, they’ll strip you of everything in jail — your clothes, purse, wallet, your phone, everything. So, always keep a Sharpie & write the phone number of an attorney on your arm & any other number you’ll need. They can’t erase a Sharpie.

Let’s talk about it.

Typically, I don’t write in all caps but for this one I will so they can hear me in the back:

THEY INVADED NATIVE AMERICAN LANDS HERE FOR GOLD — FOR WEALTH & POWER — AND THEY JUSTIFIED THEIR TAKEOVER BY DEMONIZING OUR INDIGENOUS ASSES. THEY CALLED US “SAVAGES” & TOLD US THEIR INVASION WILL BE GOOD.

This is the oil-horny administration, which comes from the land-horny administration, which comes from the gold-horny admiration, so on and so forth.

The first illegal immigrants (white guys) are just wildly horny for more.

How many times have you gone to the African (or African American) Studies department at a university and found white people teaching it?

Now, go to the Indigenous studies department…

NYC is the *least* multicultural when it comes to Indigenous peoples:

“I’m Oglala.”

What’s that?

“I’m Chicano.”

What’s that?

“We’re Yup’ik, Inupiaq, O’odham, Rarámuri, Tulalip … Lenape?”

Even in NYC they don’t know who the Lenape are. You’re on their land! New York is ancestral Lenape land! 🤦🏽‍♂️

It’s only when your fur pup takes that walk over the rainbow bridge that you cherish the things they chewed on. You find yourself thumbing over their bite marks. Their hair on everything is everything now. Their beautiful snout left those marks on the window — a window we’ll never clean again. ❤️

My grandpa is 89 and a Chicano. I fear for him every single day he goes to breakfast, because he’s brown. ICE grabs anyone who isn’t a blonde & blue. They grab veterans like him who’s just trying to enjoy his years. He fought for a country that now demonizes him b/c of his color. This is America.

As a boy, I was taught that a dreamcatcher doesn’t belong in a car. It belongs to the east, so when you wake, when the sun rises, the beams burn the bad dreams that try to disturb your rest. Modernly, keep dreamcatchers to the eastern part of your home where the first rays can burn the bad things.

In Lakota, we don’t have a word for “goodbye.” We know a goodbye is never a “goodbye,” because we’ll see you again in this life or the next. Don’t say “goodbye.” Instead, say, “Tokša.” Phonetically, it’s THOK-SHA. It means, “I’ll see you again.”
