Hey #portfolioday!

I'm Marina, an illustrator with a focus on graphic and grain-textured illustrations. I like to create book cover illustrations and designs, fanarts, and posters, but it's not only what I do.

Let's make cool stuff!

I'm having a lot of fun coming up with book cover ideas for a new portfolio direction - there's definitely something cooking up between these characters... 🔥🏹

It was my recent illustration, but I redrew almost the entire piece, rethinking what I wanted to say. This time I like it much more

Here is my last late contribution for #SciArtSeptember 29 - Foresight

This story is about climate change, global warming, and this worldwide summer heat when all of us were melting. And that each entered prompt will boost the next summer's degree

#SciArtSeptember 29 - Foresight

On the darkest days of environmental and political news, one might find solace in weird things. Sometimes, I look at my pet rats and think "well, whatever happens, you guys will still be around in the future."
Black and white lineart drawing of a human skull in the middle of rubble, possibly from a collapsed building. There is a rat curiously sniffing at the skull, as well as plant seedlings reaching up from among the rubble.

Totally weird! If I take a nap for an hour or less during the day, the rest of the day feels like I'm still partially asleep, and everything around feels slow. That's exactly how I imagine a shark sleeping.
And thanks for the kind words!

#SciArtSeptember Day 25: Tireless

Some shark species sleep on the move, either by switching off each hemisphere of their brain, or by activating nerve centers in the spinal cord, allowing them to continue swimming and breathing.

Falling behind in schedule, but
#SciArtSeptember 21 - Reef

Currently, our ocean life is threatened by the climate crisis. Fossils tell us it’s not the first time: in the past, many species have been wiped out by heating. This one is set in the Late Triassic to Early Jurassic, 201 million years ago.
A colourful and detailed illustration of a late triassic lively tropical reef that at the midpoint of the image turns into an early jurassic desolate landscape of bleached corals and algal blooms, depicting the oceanic extinction event of the late Triassic. Overlaid on the illustration is a temperature curve, going from cool to hot.

I haven't had any book cover commissions yet but I'm hoping to change that!
Illustration of a fantasy western europe themed medieval scene. A young man looks down over a bearded man wielding a sword while flaming arrows fall around him. In the foreground two people are whispering in a castle window. Illustration of a high fantasy scene. A woman bearing a sword and wearing a cloak filled with stars stands with a dragon soaring across a city behind her. In the foreground there is an older man and a girl with a young dragon on her arm.

#SciArtSeptember Day 16: Rift

Thingvellir sits in a rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Fissures and cliffs offer a clear view of continental drift in action. This unique landscape is still changing today.

Have watched a couple of videos already 😅 Cool that it can still be viewed live on the shore (if I got it correctly). Mesmerizing

Besides the cool art, this is the first time I've ever heard of this fishing method, and it's super interesting! 🔥
