I’ve seen some thinkpieces and posts about Portland protests that fail to understand the long-term hyperspecificity of Portland culture/humor, and frame it as a sort of shitposting meme-pilled ironic thing. Which is wrong.

they literally rebelled against him and shipped him back to Spain to go on trial for abuse of power

when he talked his way out of it and went back to the Americas he got shipwrecked and the other Spaniards didn't help him for months cause they HATED him

Columbus learned his methods working slaving ships in the Mediterranean, so when he came to the Americas and saw a group of people he could exploit he did just that and organized a genocidal wave of mass violence, rape, exploitation, and kidnapping on Caribbean peoples, nearly eliminating them

Netanyahu out here bringing up all the previous hostage/ceasefire deals he made and then immediately reneged on. All these folks protesting Kamala look stupid because its clear deals were made and you have a guy who basically was like "Nah, i'm good".
