Not to be confused with Gygrestolen, Lektorvegen, Bø (photo: Sandra Jungen) or Gygrestolen, a mountain peak in Svalbard, several hundred miles north of Norway altogether.

Guess the giantess needed a few places to sit, around Scandinavia.

A long rocky outcrop, almost like a long, rough table, in the foothills of a mountain range, with rolling green hills behind it.

The only problem is, the scoop faces directly north, while Varaldsøy lies to the northwest of the mountain. The giantess would have to do a lot of stumbling to make that gouge.

The way it looks is that the giantess may have lived around Ænes, saw the island in the fjords, and decided it should be on the mainland. She grasped it but the land crumbled in her hands, she fell backward, and her ass crushed a chunk out of Gygrastolen.

Heard about a myth local to the island Varaldsøy (Norway), a giantess who tried to haul it to the mainland but broke a mountain, Gygrastolen (Giantess's Throne).

I can't corroborate this story anywhere, don't want to subscribe to a seafood magazine to see if there's more to learn.
