In almost every period of socio-political stress in America's history there was a related artistic disruption: music, painting, movies, etc. But the past 2 yrs have been flat. No new music or art styles protesting the status quo. Same music. Same artists. No new genres. Seems very odd.

I have never in my life understood why it's okay to include "DoD Secret Clearance" on anyone's email signature, LinkedIn profile or anywhere else on public display. Beyond stupid. Like stuffing a fat wallet in your back pocket and walking through town on a Saturday night.

#PowerShell automation suddenly hanging after December updates?
It’s not you...it's a new security prompt added to Invoke-WebRequest in Windows PowerShell 5.1.

Here’s what changed and how to fix your scripts before they freeze again:

Thinking about revising my agent instruction to include "if I ask about making a new #powershell module, always respond with 'someone else probably did that already'"

Wed night I fell into another rabbit hole and started recoding my old #powershell module "FudgePop" to use winget instead of chocolatey and convert the config files from xml to json. Then my dog walked in and gave me a "wtf are you doing?" look. So I stopped and went to bed. Smart dog.

I was feeling Christmasy and Santa @mdowst.dowst.dev brought an early present, so I figured it was time to blog about something again. Maybe more will come, I don't know yet. Enjoy! skatterbrainz.wordpress.com/2025/12/11/w... #powershell
When Santa brings you a work request: Searching GitHub Repos and Gists for Text Patterns with PowerShell
This is my feeble attempt at blogging again. Now that blogging is out of fashion and we trust AI to tell us what to think, drink and eat, it’s probably as good a time to do it as ever. So, th…

I just published a quick video to explain the new security prompt added to Invoke-WebRequest in Windows PowerShell 5.1 and show how to prevent it from affecting any of your automations.

Maybe car makers could notify dealerships *before* sending out safety recalls so they can order some parts before the calls start rolling in. That doesn't seem to be the case though.

Did you know you can ask AI to search PowerShell Gallery for modules that match a search scope, then iterate the results to query the source GitHub repos for functions/cmdlets that match a search value. Might save time hunting for something before building it and finding out later.

🚨 Breaking change in Invoke-WebRequest that could impact your automations.

I wrote a helper script to find where Invoke-WebRequest is and isn't using -UseBasicParsing. It also works for any other cmdlets/parameters combo.

Gene Simmons said musicians have been treated "worse than slaves" because radio doesn't pay for playing their songs. Yeah. I lost count of all the musicians that were lynched and hanged, burned, beaten, all because of radio royalties. So sad.

#powershell modules "Helium" and "SolarWinds.ServiceDesk" have been updated to address CVE-2025-54100 for Windows PowerShell users. Batteries not include. Add water, makes its own sauce.
