Unlike a lot of other current gaming trends like the recent uprise of It Takes Two-likes, it doesn't look like there's a singular cause for this and instead it's a result of people who were inspired by 2000-early 2010s media like Wind Waker or Black Flag getting to make what they want
Anyone noticing the sudden trend of games about traveling or sailing to a bunch of islands? Feels like gaming is entering an Age of Exploration of sorts
