I've always believed that Hilary should have doubled-down on the "deplorables" comment. If you're racist, misogynist, and homophobic then you are deplorable. And there's a political party that welcomes you.

For Evangelicals (the voters Klein thinks Dems can win by opposing abortion), abortion isn't about abortion, it's about imposing their sexual mores on the rest of us. If it were about abortion, they'd be handing out contraception on street corners.

It's like Kavanaugh isn't even trying anymore. He says that those who can *prove* that they're permitted in USA can go and those who are here illegally will be detained. What about those who are permitted to be in USA but can't *prove* it to ICE's and Kavanaugh's satisfaction?

There might be a causal link between the BLM protests of 2020 and January 6th as suggested by
@chatterton.bsky.social here (www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...) but there's no moral equivalence between a violent response to police murders and a violent response to an *imaginary* stolen election.
