reading this turd from @kevinmkruse.bsky.social you may find it hard to believe, but 10 years or so ago, when he started on twitter, he wrote long humorous great fact filled pieces about american history
honest

now look at him, reduced to this 4th rate clickbait; truly social media has crushed him

What "progressive" or "left" news sources should you absolutely positively avoid ?

I'll start with two

www.narativ.org

I think that the complex color gradient in the background would have cause a flood of comments, back in 1995, about powerpoint junk and here we are in 2025 and powerpoint has won

not sure if that is good or bad and anyway the 1960s hippies used way more color, so there is that

you may remember the famously feisty MA congressman B Frank
back in Obama, or maybe even Bush time, he was on some show - maybe PBS, don't recall and Barney said

when the GOP took over congress, we couldn't get witnesses or fairness at hearings, so we tried holding our own press confs

NO ONE CAME
A competent opposition party would call a presser and explain that while their party believes that voters should choose politicians and not the other way around, the Republican Supreme Court majority had previously said that extreme gerrymandering was legal if it was about partisanship but...

These accounts each have over a quarter of a million followers

& post a lot of stuff about how bad Trump is

how often they post ideas for what to do
i would wager not often enough, which makes accounts like this doomerism you should avoid

One thing that really annoys me about social media, and i think i am the only one, is how people constantly use words like 'stunning' to describe an image

if it was that stunning you wouldnt need to tell people, although you can interpret stunning as short hand for 'I find this amazing'

reality is so effing depressing

One can truly understand Winston Churchill, who before WWII was considered a vile imperialist by people like Eric Blair, when Churchill famously said of democracy

worst system ever invented, except for all the others
In January 1954, Joe McCarthy’s favorable/unfavorables amongst Republicans was 62/19, amongst Democrats they were 39/38. Independents were 53/28. content.time.com/time/magazin...

Everyone, give Craig a round of applause for "scott, who knows a lot about Medicare fraud"

killer headline
#Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who knows a lot about Medicare fraud, praises efforts to hold wrongdoers accountable in Gov. Ron DeSastrous' Hope Florida scandal. Gee, wonder how that's going to affect their relationship...

i dislike his buildings, but i bet I do not dislike them nearly as much as anyperson who has to do maintence or repair or cleaning

or maybe those people love Gehry, cause those people get to add a zero to their fee cause the buildngs are so freaking impractical

In 1983 Reagan voters were 48/44 opposed to MLK day and Reagan himself still thought MLK might have been a Communist. We know this because he said it to his friend Meldrim Thompson, a former NH governor who sat on the board of the John Birch Society in 1983.

Theorem: certain members of *every family are off the rails

Families vary only in how much they acknowledge this

ok, this is not fair to people who are abused, but still
Dad: "and so she was back in court again and the judge was not impressed"

Me: "yeah, that's what happened the last time too"

Certain members of my family are completely off the rails

This would absolutely explain why NEW enrollment is only down slightly year over year so far.
I don't know if this could be a possible fourth reason but people only need to use the ACA when they are working a job that doesn't offer health insurance or don't have work. If more people are getting laid off then they will need to use the ACA to find health coverage.
