MÖRKTOBER Day 22: Thief
Germ, ash thief

Germ has been stealing ash from the Cinder Keepers beneath the eastern bridge for two years, smuggling it out in clay jars sealed with wax. Occultists pay 200s per jar, no questions asked. He’s been living a life of relative luxury, spending his coin on wine and the pillow men of Grift, living exactly like the world is on the brink of apocalypse.
One of Germ’s buyers is in the pocket of Glopstepalof, and he’s finally looked properly at what’s in the jars. The frog-wizard is about to learn that his long lost court still endures, still burns, still holds tight to the map that he needs. He’s going to want all of it.
The Cinder Keepers, too, are onto Germ. They send their scouts after the thief, who knows nothing of discretion. But they don’t know yet that his little side hustle might be about to bring seven centuries of malice crashing down on their hidden sanctuary.
