"The Devil's Children", by Sarah Langan:
Absolutely phenomenal characters and storytelling, and this one could be subtitled, "Hubris is the New Black (Death)"! Yet another perfectly placed "finale" in this particular section!

It also contained one of the most interesting characters to which I've ever been introduced, like someone I've known all my life yet only just met.

A phenomenal story of community standing together against evil despite overwhelming odds, complete with unlikely heroes, heartbreaking losses, & a hopeful ending...kind of like, you know, THE STAND, but in a different part of the world!

"The Story I Tell Is the Story of Some of Us", by @paultremblay.bsky.social:
It took about a page for me to adjust to the narrative style, but once I did I was fully invested until the very end! Both the narrator and the protagonist were quite intriguing, and even the narratee seemed interesting!

A superbly-written detective fiction set in the immediate wake of an apocalypse, with one hell of a moral conflict!
