We're also pleased that they have not rushed into incorporating forest removals into this version of the standard, recognising the 'different perspectives' on these measurements and methodologies amongst both academics and practitioners.

We await their Request for Information and hope to engage.

Great to see the GHG Protocol launch this new standard on land emission and removals, recognising the very different measurements needed for this compared with organisational carbon accounting with Scopes 1, 2 and 3.

Our land team will be diving into the details.

Now ExxonMobil has joined the Carbon Measures coalition in an effort to reshape global climate accounting standards. The coalition says they "are focused on reducing the carbon intensity of the products responsible for the majority of global emissions."

Pushing for a People's National Emergency Briefing is one action we can all take right now, thanks for your support!

We also urge everyone to support a People's National Emergency Briefing, here in the UK, or to ask about how this approach could be replicated in your country:

The report is alarming, but we urge you to read it.
At just 11 pages its very clear and understandable and has implications for all countries not just the UK.

We believe that, as scary and negative as this report is, the national security risks and the other effects of climate change should be presented to the British public so that we are all informed of the threat that is in front of us and are then able to face it and take action.

At the @nebriefing.bsky.social in November, Richard Nugee CB CVO CBE said:

“In the military, you learn a clear principle: face the threat that is in front of you, not the threat as you would wish it to be.”

“If current rates of biodiversity loss continue, every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse.”

“Food production is the most significant cause of terrestrial biodiversity loss.”

“The UK is unable to be food self-sufficient at present, based on current diets and prices.”

It surmises that migration, organised crime, terrorism, state threats, pandemics, economic insecurity, geopolitical competition, misinformation, polarisation, and military conflicts are all likely to intensify as national security risks, driven by the continuing collapse of global ecosystems.

What do you feel is the biggest threat to our national security right now?

The UK Joint Intelligence Committee has released its report on the threat of biodiversity and ecological collapse on national security.

Its a chilling read: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/696e0e...

We're in a national emergency, but we're not talking or acting as if we are.
This dangerous disconnect is why we convened the @nebriefing.bsky.social. Our goal was to reset the national conversation on the climate and nature crises, cutting through the sea of misinformation holding us back.
