#Albirex went from bad to ridiculously bad in the second half – winless since a 1–0 against Marinos... in Round 20 on 15 June 2025(!). -_-

Interesting comments from Tokyo United manager Masashi Fukuda after his team lost all three games in the final round of the Japan Regional Champions League, which determines promotion to the JFL:

"This is no longer a tournament that amateurs and salaryman can train for in their free time."

#JFL#HondaFC clinch their 11th JFL championship with a 1–0 win at MinebeaMitsumi FC; a 2–2 tie at Briobecca UI was not enough for #ReilacShiga to keep pace. However, Shiga are now confirmed for the J3/JFL playoffs as #ReinMeerAomori lost 0–3 against Verspah Oita, thus eliminating their last hope.

#JFL – waiting for follow-up information, as this post will celebrate its anniversary in a bit over a month. Perhaps they will announce details on the same Board meeting that also confirms the promoted teams from the RL-CL Final Four. www.jfl.or.jp/jfl-pc/view/...

#JFL – Relegation of Asuka FC has been mathematically confirmed. Despite rivals Yokogawa Musashino losing 0–2 against Veertien Mie, a 1–1 vs Maruyasu Okazaki was not enough to prolong their lifeline another day. The club from Nara Prefecture will thus return to the Kansai SL after just one season.

As a bit of a follow-up, here are three ten-team divisions of a fictive JFL2, based on roughly the same matrix as the 2025 Shakaijin team allocations (I had to remove one Kanto and one Kansai team and add one Kyushu team to even things out). Division champions to JFL, bottom 3 to RLs. Your opinions?

Sustainable growth begins at the roots, so it would be about time to improve the way how teams enter the JFL. The current modus operandi via #ChiikiCL and #ShakIjin is archaic and not beneficial for promoted teams, who usually struggle at least half a season before perhaps gaining any traction.
The point was to expand the professional pyramid; if it temporarily made the JFL a company/semi-pro heavy league that was incidental.

The JFL has always been an amateur league, and Honda is steadfastly an amateur club.

The challenge now is making sure the pro pyramid can grow sustainably…

#JFL R28 results, standings, R29 schedule

J's Gatekeeper are at it again – Honda FC have secured a P2 finish.

In the basement, Asuka FC can only reach P15 at best now but are not out completely yet, thanks to the better goal difference over Yokogawa Musashino.

While Honda FC's presence in the JFL frustrates some - and has for the last 25y or so - the only way they are leaving the JFL, short of a nightmare season that ends in relegation, is by Honda deciding to fold the club.

There's a whole lotta what-ifs throughout their history but it is what it is.
They should tell Honda FC to professionalise or leave.

J3’s 19th placed team guaranteed to stay in the league as Honda FC secure a top 2 place in the JFL.

Honda FC, as a semi-pro (not really) company team, cannot qualify for the J League.
