Getting started on my localization CSV now, because it would be hell to implement later. Thankfully Godot seems to make localization relatively painless (said the person who has never tried to implement it before).

#godot 4.6 has been an absolute godsend in my extremely resource-heavy project. I know it has plenty of great going for it, but this single QoL feature is so, so good.

Coding my own dialog system! Pretty basic - DialogPlayers process DialogEvents, from a Transcript resource, on a text box. "DisplayText" and "WaitInput" are it atm, but it's very extensible (e.g. "Choice", "Branch," etc)

If I could code a text editor for Transcripts though...

Today worked on technical debt I had for some time.
Before light was just 2 sprites on the character plus radial shadow sprite it was good enough for prototyping the look. Now I can have as many lights as I want.

Looking for recommendations, for team-based roguelikes that have an ongoing narrative.

Thinking of possible methods for how to tell a meaningful story, despite a potentially ever-changing roster of characters. So I'm really curious how it's been approached by others.

This hitch is driving me insane.

My scene constructor nodes are loading and instancing all the components in threads as they should, and the profiler is giving me no insight into why that one frame lasts 1675 ms.

Surely, that isn't lag from adding just one empty room to the tree.

Cognitive symptoms post-concussion have lessened. I can focus and organize more complex thoughts, like planning code. Too much still exacerbates the endless headaches.

Still way overstimulated by light and sound, and my left hand is what I can only describe as "glitchy". But at least I'm healing.

Every year, my partner and I watch The Muppet Christmas Carol. And this year we found the uncut version with all the songs.

Michael Caine is stellar. The composure required to graciously and solemnly accept a child-sized scarf from Beaker without breaking into uncontrollable giggles is admirable.
