Tools that help support the future of THE PEOPLEs decentralized communications network. The work has just begun.

@j.wc.tc
Nice. That would be cool to have in the us.

This is because it actually isn’t possible to “register” as a coop in most countries including the United States. In the Us the only formal registrar is for a farming coop. For all other coops you can use any form or multiple entities & then they must follow the principles of cooperative organizing.

The .coop name wasn’t that difficult, and obviously we have to get the domain for the coop organization. We have three coop projects and Unity.Coop is not available, so that just leaves SFC.coop and FQN.coop

I’m sure we will make at least the SFC.COOP DPS as we have a lot of data and messages.

I got the second PDS set up:

@the.peoplespower.global

Again we can change these domains if we want. I am all about building consensus and agreement on everything theiugh democratic voting.

But we can also create as many as we want to. How cool that it is so easy to set up.

Also if you have an other idea on a good .org domain I’m down to collaborate on something :)

We want something that could energize people to organize and collaborate together.

Not sure how to get a Coop domain. We have at least 3-4 coop projects so it should be possible.

We have lots of .org domains:

Ativity.org
CauseCollective.org
CommunityLifeNetwork.org
EverythingNetwork.org
IdeaFun.org
ParallelGov.org
ReimaginePower.org
CommunityElections.org
UnityElections.org
Community L.I.F.E. Network
CommunityLifeNetwork.org

Ya we can start with that, but Im not totally against spam as well. It is just part of the Bluesky feed and of course we want to have users. We could experiment with one server being open at least and see what happens. For me spam is just part of the chatter and we have to be able to deal with it.

For me the primary issue with the billionaire class and the trillionare corporations is they are simply not bound by any boarder. So that is why there is the Globsl aspect. Also the US movement is happening, the Globsl movement needs support.
January 15, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Oh everything Indo automatically decentrilized and open to all. For example Occupy steered in US but it went Globsl. It is fine to have a .us domain as well if we want. Just let me know any suggestions.

I decided to go with PeoplesPower.Global :) I’m always open to other options.

Thank you it all worked beautiful. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to customize like Add terms, remove invite etc… Thanks so much!

Overall I would say everything is still preliminary, but it is certainly cool and seems to be the future, or at least the last gets Decentrilized communication network for a while.

I was able to get the first PDS set up. It wasn’t very hard. Quite surprising. It will just be faster and easier to get more set up for sure.

For me the biggest issue now is to customize it. For example getting rid of the invite code requirement. And to create terms. @adjustor.luigi.global

From my research today, it seems using a normal website server is out. So I’m looking at setting up a new cloud server either at DigitalOcean or AWS or one of the many others. What is your recommendation on where to host multiple DPSs?

How I did was to run the .sh script in atproto.com/guides/self-... and had it install everything I needed
But you can easily read over and run it manually.

Once it had ran, I edited the compose file and removed caddy and added tunnel from this pastebin.com/2iAPgity someone shared in the discord

After finally reading up properly on #atproto and #bluesky, I realised that it’s exactly what I always thought a social network should be. Feeling confident enough to make this my new permanent home after 15 years of Twitter. Hello.

Now how do I set up a PDS…..

I kind of can't believe how easy it was to set up my own Bluesky PDS on a $5/mo Linode.

I run my own Bluesky PDS on a tiny server, using Dokku, an open-source "personal" Heroku clone.

I wrote some notes on how to set this all up, here: davepeck.org/notes/self-h...
