Bravo to the Youngwilders. Great stuff.

"the main thing is we’ve just let it breathe for a little bit. We’ve removed a lot of grazing pressure and seen what’s come up.”

Music to my ears.

At Maple Farm, nature is returning in droves: nightingales, grass snakes, slowworms, bats and insects. All due to the vision of a group determined to accelerate its recovery

More pictures from a chilly Athelney yesterday. The wagtails and egrets were loving the digging. It looks brutal but actually it’s really only small part of the site…. The rest is just changing slowly as it will www.somersetwildlands.org

Early morning start to dig some
modest scrapes in two fields at Athelney. It might seem from our recent posts that we do loads of digging and planting, but actually this is pretty much the first thing we’ve done like this here. After this it’s back to its own thing!

Wildcats - also known as woodcats - were once found throughout Britain including in the Somerset Levels. It would be wonderful to see them return to Devon, and hopefully one day soon to a wilder Somerset too. Restoration and rewilding, hand in hand.

Thanks to the volunteers who came to our second round of memorial tree planting at Clark Fields today. We had a wonderful morning. That’s us done for now, we’ll let the rest develop by itself. To find out more about our work and this site go to: www.somersetwildlands.org/our-land/eas...

Pine Martens spotted in the Mendips now. Fantastic. Let’s hope there are more! There have been very occasional sightings in the Levels for years. Looking forward to their return more widely. www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol...
