Here is what I wrote back then. A charge of £2 a night on a hotel room/ABNB could raise £12 a year… money which could be invested in municipal infrastructure (eg public transport, tourist facilities, home insulation).

Delighted the government seems to be on the cusp of allowing a tourism tax (as is standard in much of Europe). Here I am calling for it back in 2018 to help Bristol.

Those of us who spend even a bit of time online - for work, fun whatever - see a huge amount of detail on current events. Think pieces, scandals, dark currents, blogs, back stories, investigation - almost none of which makes it into main news. Leads to further frustration and disconnect all round.

It's funny to have to make this case but tbqh we don't make it enough: human efforts to counter fossil fuel use have had *at least some* effect on total greenhouse gas emissions since the signing of the Paris Agreement in 2015, and there's some evidence to back up this position
