Did I tell you that the other day I got told to double check if a client might have some "behaviours" and then wear long sleeves on days I'll see them? It's good advice just very funny

Tummies out is great for free time!!! Honestly at work if I could be entirely covered and show no skin at all that would be the ideal

What is with this new trend of crop tops being marketed as business casual. Put your belly button away????? We actually don't need progress on everything

The universe knew I needed the spiritual experience that can only be achieved by drinking an entire bottle of white wine and being kind of loud all night and that’s why today I was blessed with 0 hangover. When it is meant to be the hangover will not find you

The only reason I thought to keep track of this is because I would like to continue reading more broadly, and I'm curious to see if those stats will change much this year
January 4, 2026 at 12:41 PM
It's also always messy - I considered one book as Lebanese for this count as the editor is Lebanese but contributors spanned the Middle East. Also in my notes "trans author" is its own category so a trans woman author is counted both in the woman and trans stat

Interesting reading stats from last year: I read books by authors from 9 countries. I overwhelmingly read American men BUT if you exclude Brandon Sanderson (14 novels) I mostly read women.

We did speeches at new years last night which was super sweet 1st of all I crushed mine 2nd it was nice to see everyone being so earnest and sharing how rough the year was 3rd one friend basically gave a ted talk on his medical presentations 4th the final speech that started with "My bad"
January 1, 2026 at 1:56 AM
I think I medically need hot chips. The fact that I'm even awake in these circumstances is diabolical

Went to run club, had a lovely time with my friend, life is good

Also Duolingo isn't too bad as an adjunct for practice you just can't learn from it, and in Japanese you need to turn off the romaji which is on by default
December 28, 2025 at 12:26 PM
Wanikani for kanji and some vocab, print out kanji practice sheets to go with it, Tofugu has great grammar tips and culture info, Anki for vocab flash cards, if you game try and play some JRPGs in Japanese, and just do it consistently unlike me šŸ˜…šŸ˜…

Also pretty cool that I don't need to translate a lot of words. Like I've been thinking about how interesting children's brains are that I only ever learned this in a classroom but I started so young that childhood vocabulary in Japanese is second nature to me but I don't know like the word for wife
December 28, 2025 at 9:27 AM
Going back to learning Japanese is funny because what do you mean the word "to erupt" has been buried in my brain for 12 years. Why do I still know that
December 28, 2025 at 9:25 AM
Obviously sometimes some home births can be positive but you are gambling and most of the people who are opting for them don't understand their odds
December 26, 2025 at 10:05 AM
Talking to my 80+ year old Australian grandmas is so funny because they think being anti-vax and having home births are insane trends done by psychos who don't understand how much people used to DIE and I agree

I can't believe Gremlins is a real film that was beloved by children but now it is beloved by me
