After witnessing firsthand our collective failure, my expectations of any given stranger is way lower than it used to be. The fact it was better in minority of places doesn't change much. Again, it's my perception and I'm happy for anyone who had a better. My feelings and experiences are my own.

Oh I do that, too. 😏 And I wear n95 Darth Vader style one. Was considering to take lightsaber with me at some point, because taxi drivers were really into commenting my face wear. Now I just do the sound.

They're good people, absolutely. But as a whole, we failed to stop the thing that would be over if people could follow precautions for a month. Humanity and society is one and the same in this meaning. There are places, like Japan, where these things are basics. Western cultures on the other hand...

Precisely. I lost a lot of faith in humanity (in regards to compassion and intelligence both) in the past 5 years.

Spent almost a week with fever (thankfully, not covid or flu), finally getting better. Managed to catch it while passing through the building for a dog walk. People don't wear masks when sick and have to go out 😿 Will never understand that disregard for others.

I noticed I wasn't seeing anybody I followed on my TL, I filed a help request and the mod goes "oh yeah we're closing off access to the main instance and all these other instances"
I asked why, what rules they broke, "none, they just refuse to ban the servers we have beef with, so I'm blocking them"

Their problem is pretty much the same censorship. Instead of corporations, you have self-fixated little overlords. Nah.

Not going anywhere. All of the socials, big and small, are gonna be pressed (if not already) by the same rules. It's not an isolated case. We push back as much as we can, or just turn off internet connection and share our art with friends on a park bench.
