After some Old Shrimper?

The first barrel has already been delivered to the Guesthouse on Union St.

Be sure to keep an eye on their FB page or the Real Ale Finder app to see when they put it on.

@robbotron.bsky.social thank you for an amazing show in Southport (sponsored by golden sands).
So happy I finally got to see you live. Hopefully you come back again in the future.

Funny how a simple spelling error can introduce you to a new word.

Certification: The process of earning or providing the official documentation as proof of something.

Certifiction: Claiming to own a certification but providing no proof of it.

Wild how that's not even in the dictionary.

OLD SHRIMPER HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN BREWED!

Sorry for shouting: I'm just really excited. We'll most likely start selling it in the next couple of weeks.

On the 1st November; the great and mighty Richie Stephenson is playing at the "Cloud 9 Bar" (the old O'Learys) on Cable Street for a charity gig benefitting Men's Mental Health.

The music will be fire. The people the fuel. The beer will be wet if disappointing as not everyone can stock local ales.

An update from the SIBA NW Beer Competition:

We've managed to have a proper look at the results and we haven't done as badly as we feared.

Eagles Dare came 4/22 entries, earning a bronze. Only 5 entries scored an award.

Dark Night came 7/13, earning silver. 9 entries received an award.

No wins for us this year, other than meeting and chatting with other brewers.

Not that it bothers me. There's a lot of competition out there and some damn fine beer!

I have been allocated "glass washing". Apparently my threats of sabotaging the competition has been taken seriously.

Cowards.

Decent turnout at the SIBA NW Beer Competition.

I don't know any of these people.

I'll be at the Bolton Whites Hotel tomorrow for the SIBA Northwest Beer Competition 2025.

I'll be sure to let you know how things are going as SIBA are cowards and refuse to drop Xitter.

Even when we're the only brewery in Southport, we still don't even make the rankings.

We are never going to hear the end of this.

We ended up buying more 5L cans.

Additionally: the Tap has been upgraded so instead of twisting to open, you just 'flick' it open or closed. Also pours faster too.
For those it affects: we have sold out of 5L cans. The last few can be found in either Portland Wine Cellar on Portland Street, Southport, or in Derby House, Wrightington.

We're unsure of whether to buy in a new pallet of 5L cans or switch to 5L Bag-in-Box, but we'll let you know what we decide.

Coming to the #southportairshow this weekend? It's also the 2nd birthday of the family friendly Southport Tavern by the rail station.

Say hi to Steve. Play some pool. Scoff some free food. Drink a pint of #local #realale provided by yours truly.

With the news that more breweries are shutting down now than ever before; we were asked what we think we attribute our success to having been in the brewing game for over 20 years.

The answer is simple.

There's a Tolkien exhibit opening at The Atkinson next week and the local beer heroes at the Tap & Bottles got in contact with a few local breweries to make Tolkien-inspired badges for their beers.

So here's our effort.

8 days till Southport Beer Week begins!

Of the pubs & bars that can stock our beer, here are the ones that have chosen to do so:

The Guesthouse
Tap & Bottles
Southport Tavern
Coopers Bar
The Hoghton Arms
The Grazing Lounge
Kokomo

Big thanks to them for their support!

In addition to creating a beer for the Southport Beer Week, we've also decided to relaunch Bandstand.

Bronze, traditionally bitter, with a nice round body. At 3.4%, you should still be able to articulate your sentences after a few pints.

First barrel is being sent out next week to the Guesthouse.

Just under 2 weeks to go until the Southport Beer Week (Thurs-Sun) begins!

In a change from our regular schedule, we have a 4-man tent and queen-size inflatable airbed for sale. £50 the lot.

Pretty good condition. We're just too old to get any use out of them.

A reminder to you all that Easter is this week which means I get four, FOUR, days off in a row and there is nothing you can do or say to make me head back into work.

So please make sure you have enough beer in stock.

Just been notified of a petition to identify Cask Ale as a product of 'Intangible Cultural Heritage'.

Unlike those fools who celebrate New Year on January 1st, 1 week after the most expensive and exhausting time of year, we celebrate New Year on April 1st like our heathen ancestors so we can sit outside in the sun with a delicious beer in our hands.
