thinking back the only thing that ever made me feel good playing starfield was the robot saying my character’s name (“Stephanie”) because it’s voice is presumably à text to speech program

feels silly to mention a game so recent and high budget but starfield was an assault on my psyche. the game equivalent of eating stale drywall. there are less competent games, more offensive games, but I’d argue the worst thing a game can be is soulless

It’s a game about exploring with nothing worth seeing. none of the factions have ideologies or motivations you could care about. all it has is pastiches of better sci fi stories without any understanding of what makes those stories meaningful. the sandbox experience has never been more nihilistic
