On this last day of 2025, I've sent out MS² ~ MoonSound Music Studio v0.90 for #MSX to all donators and Buy Me A Coffee subscribers.
This version is a release candidate for MS² v1.0! Finally, after many years and moved goal posts, version 1.0 became more powerful and complete than I intended.

Danish #MSX users! Did you know that the Danish Spectravideo SVI-728 crashes when printing to a non-MSX printer? 😅
The keyboard driver is overlayed on an old version of the international ROM, which uses JP instead of JR in the printing routine. This causes the jump address to be cut off! 😱

HRA! opened a Discord server for allowing the #MSX community to make feature requests for V9978. It's the successor of the MSX2++ VDP V9968. The V9978 at the base level is V9968-compatible with added feature parity with V9990. You can help steer additional feature development!

@ikamusume.bsky.social I was looking at your IKASCC core and, altho my Verilog skills are basic, unless I'm mistaken there is no behavior for reading the test register. On the actual chip, attempting to read the write-only test register somehow causes its bit 6 to be set. Are you aware of this?

@thara1129.bsky.social and I had a brainstorm session on the MSX2++ CPU architecture tonight, while keeping in mind the future towards R900 and R1800. It was good to throw ideas around, clear up some things, and reach the best possible course of action. Thanks to Mr. Nishi's decision to (1/3) #MSX

I shared my optimal #MSX VDP detector with HRA! @thara1129.bsky.social. Advantages of my method: instant detection (no wait loops) and no display glitches on MSX1. It detects TMS9918, V9938, V9958 and up.
It won't work on 1chipMSX for now; OCM-PLD will be fixed with my info. BlueMSX is SOL.

A new benchmark comparison for MoSX. We're printing a string in SCREEN5 using the GRP: device. On the left we see a #MSX turboR in R800 mode. On the right we see the same, but running interpreted MoSX BASIC. We see a speed improvement of about 33%. We also save over 200 bytes. ✨

People interested in music know that A4 (above Middle C) is 440Hz. It's what you hear when you PLAY "o4A" in #MSX BASIC. However, with FM-BASIC and other software, A4 is on "o5". Maybe since BASIC started at octave 1, FM-BASIC was made to start at "o1" too, although it's really octave 0! (1/3)

I took a chance on four untested MSX computers from eBay to see if they still work… let’s just say things didn’t go exactly as planned: dead CPUs, broken keyboards and faulty PSUs. Not exactly an easy ride!🔧😅

I came up with a way to reduce keyboard ghosting to almost zero. Finally you'll be able to jam freely on your ⌨️ without needing a 🎹.
This will come in handy when I implement keyboard live recording!
