I see very few deny the cheating. I see lots refusing to buy off on the attitude that it’s the worst thing to ever happen to the sport. Baseball players have cheated to win since the sport was invented. You want an asterisk on the banner? Put one on the Giants’ ‘51 pennant and get back to us.

I’m not defending their cheating. The organization was punished to the maximum extent allowed under MLB rules and I’m fine with that. I’m just bemused at how obsessed lots of people are about the “legitimacy” of an 8 year old title. Y’all want the banner taken down? Show me how clean the rest were.

That their cheating by using the video stream to steal signs was extraordinary. We don’t know how wide the practice was. We don’t even know if the Dodgers weren’t doing it. There was no league investigation to find out.

Maybe. But like many you’re assuming the Astros were engaging in extraordinary behavior by using the video feed to steal signs. But we don’t know that’s true. We don’t even know LA wasn’t. There was no league wide investigation. Manfred didn’t just give the Astros immunity. The whole league got it.
