Jacob smiled thinly. “That is our arrangement. You take the most sinful person in the house.” “And the Big Guy rescues the Nice Listers,” Krampus agreed. He lifted the woman in one clawed hand, ignoring her muffled screams. “Speaking of, I think there’s some milk cow and a reindeer off to the North Pole.” “Well, that saves me the trouble of getting rid of them,” Jacob said easily. It was only the artifacts he cared for. The displays could be replaced. “Merry Christmas, Mr. Krampus.” “Merry Christmas, Ashworthy. Gonna sack you one of these years - but not tonight.” Krampus grinned, stuffing the wrapped woman into his sack. Her screams faded into the shadows along with the creature. Ashworthy nodded with a smile, returning to his book. It had been another lovely Christmas after all.
