First page of Sprak's 'After Zombie'. A person wakes up in their bedroom, which is all messy. Narration reads 'After the outbreak, it was surprising how fast everything went back to normal'. Then the erson is eating their breakfast, some toast and coffee. They scroll on their phone, and we can see their nails all broken. 'I guess I should have known. People like things being normal.'. The person leaves home after feeding their pet, a weird monster-like cat. 'They like scrolling Tiktok and having their coffee served to them or whatever'.

First we see zombies chasing someone in front of a coffee shop. Narration says 'Shit really hit the fan'. Then we see a scientist holding up some medicine and a syringe. Narration says 'Thank a bunch of smarty-pants scientists in some top secret gov bunker or something like that for figuring out the cure and shooting up any infected person they could find.', while the medicine box reads 'ZED-24 Infected or Carrier. Directions- Administer 1 dose by any means necessary. Dart gun for long range targets provided by local law enforcement.' And we see the same coffee shop, now in the present, with people just walking calmly in front of it. 'A year and some months later, and everything's back the way it was.'

We see the narrator, a barista, with their ear all eaten up and calling out an order. 'Order for Jenny...'. Then we see how they don't have a nose either, and as they reflect the narration reads 'Kind of a shame the shot just stopped the virus from progressing and couldn't, you know, reverse the damage that had already been done.'. They clean the counter and in the background someone else is mopping. Suddenly the mopper's hand falls off, and the barista narrates 'Thank fuck I wasn't as far gone as Dave.'

Narration reads 'All anyone wants to hear about is the guts, the glory, saving the town from a dragon, that time you punched a Cyclops' eye clear out of his own butt.'. Fifth panel has the character looking longingly at a picture of himself with his wife and kid. Narration reads 'But it's long days away from home. Really puts a strain on the family.'

In this page we see the Dungeon Dad traversing incredible lands hunting for the Raven Queen, who is in the forest. 'You spend months hunting the Raven Queen before coming home and-'. Suddenly we are at Dungeon Dad's abandoned house, while he looks forlornly from the door. We only see his back. 'Poof. House cleaned out, kid gone, no note from the wife.'

In this page we see Dungeon dad posting a sign to a community board. Then we cut to a couple of people playing D&D. The Dungeon Master says 'This is D&D... you know you can be playing <em>any</em> adventure, right?'. Player replies 'I know!'. Next we see the Dungeon Dad walking way from the board, decidedly, with tears in his eyes. His sign says 'Rebecca if you're reading this please come home'. In the fourth panel we see the DM and the player again. The player rolls a die and says 'I roll to get my wife back'.'

Hi! I’m Kathleen, a designer and cartoonist from Vancouver. I haven’t been actively making comics the past few years due to some ongoing health problems, but you can read almost 300 pages of my goofy, gay, silently musical comic series Band Vs Band at bvbcomix.com

Band Vs Band art with the main characters Honey and Turpentine playing guitars, and the rest of the bandmates behind them. I originally drew this as a print for the BVB Volume 1 reprint Kickstarter, and liked it enough to include it in the book.

Covers of the Band Vs Band Comix Volume 1 and Volume 2 print books. I’m still proud of them as book designs, and they both include some fun extra bonus stuff that isn’t in the web version. The Vol 1 is the second “special edition” printing after the first ones sold out, and it’s got extra extra stuff. Thank you, again, to all the kickstarter backers who helped me make these things exist!

It’s a Band Vs Band comic page! A cute retro looking rock n roll band plays in front of a crowd, and the singer, Honey Hart, gets flustered mid-song by the sight of her then-secret girlfriend in the audience. This is absolutely a spoiler for the enemies-to-lovers plot of my comic, by the way, but I think that’s fine.

Yeah! Feelin LOVE in the air and maybe it shows
And maybe I don’t even CARE who knows

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.
