Just finished watching Annihilation (2018).

The mention of Alan Moore was nice. For the look of Swamp Thing, I'd have mentioned srbisette and jrtotleben.

I'm also 99.9% through a 9-book sf series. Annihilation, though conservative in nature (like a lot of sf), complements what I'm reading.

What costs more: insurance or taxes?

Car/home/life/"health". Add it up. What did you pay, this year?

Almost everything you brought home, including YOU, had a tax on it. What did you pay, this year?

President vs. antiwar protestors: do whatever it takes to find out who is behind them. J. Edgar Hoover takes the antifascist position (!). So, create an Executive Branch intelligence agency to do the job. The origin of "when the President does it, that means that it is NOT illegal".

Get your "DEI-related" gifts now, before they're unavailable. apnews.com/article/nati...
When I went to Washington DC's museums and parks earlier this year, most of the gifts I purchased had nothing to do with descendants of conquerors. I wish I had bought more.
US national park gift shops ordered to purge merchandise promoting DEI
The Trump administration is expanding its crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion by ordering national parks to remove certain items from gift shops.

The health *insurance* (not care) package proposed by Republicans, as described in this article, costs more and covers less than Medicare. *I* have more than what's described here, and I pay less than the Rs would spend on their plan. apnews.com/article/heal...
(IMHO I still pay too much.)
The Senate voted down dueling health proposals. Here's what's at stake for Americans
Hopes for solving a major health insurance issue are fading in Washington. The Senate on Thursday rejected two bills that would have addressed expiring COVID-era subsidies.

When I visited the Black Cowboy Museum in 2023, I met people who went there from other states. It's worth the trip.

Microsoft-centered people expose themselves when they refer to directories as "folders". There are even some who do that with Linux, worse yet with UNIX.

When new UNIX admins started calling directories "folders", I knew it was time to get serious about retirement.
