Apparently rather than escape to a mental paradise in Middle Earth while I support King Aragorn and go home to my husband Boromir, I found a new and novel way to lose my mind.

Oh gosh 2 whole franchises, both famously ridiculed by the mainstream media

@zellieimani.bsky.social Today you get the tag from my Facebook memories. Probably more relevant now and one I struggle with.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? I mean, honestly and truly.
It's like pedophile sex crimes are its own right-wing pandemic.
And I bet ALL of them have accused Dems of THEIR crimes.
But yeah: this is all NOT NORMAL!!!

For generations, possibly as far back as Boomers, children started to be undereducated and misled. They were taught one way forward was the best.

And now all but the 1% are suffering.

Imagine that. A child's mind. Filled with infinite potential. In fiction we add psionic elements to help demonstrate the way events can mold a person. An accident, a loss of control, all symbolic.

And every day I'm Nana sobbing "Haven't I been a good girl?"

If I, as a child, had turned out to be superhuman like Carrie White, or a Diclonius from Elfen Lied?

I'm really not sure anyone would have made it off the playground. Worse, I doubt it would have been deliberate.

However, every other child synchronized chanting "Cootie Queen" if I asked to play...

This media went to some dark places. It would not be a stretch to speculate every pink haired horned girl who went nuts experienced something their young highly advanced brain couldn't handle or understand.

I've long speculated popular villains usually have vast power in their worst moment.

Finished Elfin Lied. Definitely going to dig for the Manga.

Every pinked haired horned gal in there reminded me of my dark side. Hell, Lucy got Jon Wicked.

None of them had a chance at a normal life.
None of them could be normal.
And the "ordinary" people saw them as dangerous.

"Oh no he forgot our promise!"

Turns out the male lead lost a family member horribly between now and then and is no harboring an adorable super weapon from the law.

Forgot how little 90's anime female side characters were allowed to know about dire circumstances...

The fact that this Wiccan's reaction to seeing this was "Get his name out of your mouth you washed up has been".

Thus, someone like me who is disabled and can't work a traditional position, is left on the outskirts.

Abandoned by the country 3 of my 4 grandparents fought for.

There's the concept of Sustainable Capitalism. Theoretically I believe it's possible. Practically I've only seen it in video games.

American Capitalism burns out its employees because the majority of employers seek the fastest and biggest buck, not the most sustainable and steady income.

All the science, all the research, says a 4 day work week and shorter shifts creates a healthier, happier, and most importantly, more productive workforce. That last part is all that should matter to corporate overlords.

Not in America.
sprytemagnus.bsky.social
Everything in modern American Capitalism is inhuman. Dog eat dog, every person for themselves, out of control individualism, and the concept that people must be able to produce in a 40 hour a week job.

Even though scientifically 40 hour weeks are more dangerous then 30, as humans get tired.

It is a multi-year process for people who actually need that help in weeks to months, lest they face homelessness.

One missed paycheck. That's all it takes.

I'm a Disabled American. And I'm trapped in a country that has made it clear it doesn't want me.

I'm a fairly intelligent person. I'm brilliant at seeing patterns and picking up on tone and theme.

The tone and theme of the SSI Disability Benefit application process is
"If you can't find a way to work, go disappear and die."
sprytemagnus.bsky.social
I applied for Disability Benefits in August 2020. At the time, I didn't need a rollator to walk or elevate my legs.

September, 2025. I'm in the appeal stage of my second attempt. Evaluation from one of their mental health people. Tomorrow I have a physical evaluation.

And I don't believe I'll win.
