Tales from the bus: I took the bus to my colonoscopy, had a 13 mile tube inserted up my butt, and when I swiped my card on the return trip my transfer was still valid. Has anyone ever done a colonoscopy round trip on one fare?

"Once at the fair, everything is accessible by foot. The entire experience is designed around pedestrian movement and access that is comfortable and appealing (although often crowded, especially if you’re waiting in line at Sweet Martha’s Cookies or another beloved vendor)."
Street Views: The Great Multi-Modal Get-Together
The Minnesota State Fair’s investment in options to “get there” by transit and biking sets a year-round example for the metro.

I started back to college this year after 13 years. Each classroom I sat in I wondered where I would hide in an active shooter situation. I was more focused on that than the syllabus. That school in Tangletown is only 4 miles away.

Today I delivered another 8 bags of groceries from White Center Food Bank to 4 neighbors in White Center and Seattle for the @cascade.org #PedalingReliefProject. Short route since we had lots of volunteers helping deliver food to neighbors in need today, so I didn’t even bring a trailer!

my view is that everyone should be able to earn a living wage doing whatever it is they like. if you love working in a bookshop, you should be able to live a comfortable life doing so. if you loving being a barista, the same. and if you want to do more traditional blue collar work, that’s cool too!
the other thing is that no one who fetishizes manual labor actually cares to improve life for people who are in those circumstances! no support for unionization or a generous welfare state! no interest in policies that make life easier for people who work their hands or afford them more autonomy!

Folds: If we’ve been told our whole lives that we can’t spend money on the arts because they’re not important—then why was taking over the Kennedy Center and the arts the first thing they did?

It is extremely important. It’s the bedrock of self-expression.

Wanted to ride today and got all my errands done! Picked up a Brompton travel case I found on Marketplace, donated 3 bags of clothes and whatever else I could fit on the bike, stopped by the lake with a book, grabbed groceries and kitty litter on the way home.

In honor of last night's mayoral primary, here's Andrew Cuomo blowing through a stop sign in his Dodge Charger in Manhattan on Monday.

Borrowing a Larry Vs Harry e-Bullitt for a few days. This thing is seriously so much fun! I usually live in turbo mode on my other cargo e-bikes but I was happy just around cruising in eco yesterday. #cargobike

It’s a perfect Up North Michigan morning. Good day for a bike ride, eh?
It’s really unfortunate. I used to work at Next, and while my experience there was a mixed bag, I did meet some truly amazing people. The outdoor industry is really struggling.

A sight for sore eyes!

The defensive fencing around the Nimbus sculpture has disappeared (I think quite literally this morning)!

In addition to the old Panera space (unfenced since Holidazzle) it's great to see some of Nicollet's casual public spaces open again.

UNDERWOOD: Do you believe that the US government has the authority to deport American citizens

NOEM: No, and we are not deporting US citizens

UNDERWOOD: Several American citizens have been deported
Same, I heard about that! I always make it a point to wear my bike helmet while ordering coffee 😂
Splendid Cycles (LvH dealer) in Portland are super helpful as well, might be worth an email to see if they could help.
The Cargo Bike Shop in St Paul is a a LvH dealer, they might have an idea.
