Warbreaker is a great standalone and intro to Sanderson. And even better if you’ve previously read Cosmere books. If the latter, you gain further appreciation for concepts such as Commands, BioChromatic Breath, and the Returned.

But honestly I might generally need a break from Sanderson’s books. I’ve only been reading the Cosmere since I got into reading in 2022. With the exception of a mediocre romance book.

I’ve been reading The Way of Kings on and off for so long (since December of 2024) that I’m honestly starting to get fatigued by it. And it doesn’t help that I’ve been recovering from psychosis since May. Think I need to read a different book to shake things up.
