.hack//SIGN is so fucking special and a very good chunk of it is that the "trapped in an MMO world and percieving it as physical in a way that the rest of the cast does not" is not framed as empowering or fantastical, but as an immediate and troubling sign of dissociation

Both worlds are designed so well and feel so lived in and magical

I feel like this should technically count but Bravely Default is my favorite spinoff! FFV is one of my favorite FFs and it adapted its job system and expanded on it so well

HONESTLY and I think all the FFs have amazing OSTs but IX's is very special to my heart. It has so much soul to it especially in the character, town, and event themes. And the track "Not Alone" is a very personal song to me and my favorite in gaming, its so powerful
