"The randomness is the difference between a regime based on terror and a regime that is plainly repressive. A regime based on terror...deploys violence precisely to reinforce the message that anyone can be subjected to it."
M. Gessen: “It’s only natural that our brains struggle to find logic in what we are seeing. There is a logic, and this logic has a name. It’s called state terror.” [nytimes.com]

The more I think of it, the more it’s clear that the fact blog posts (or Discourse topics for that matter) have a TITLE is a major source of friction compared to the Socials. Explains why I keep ending up writing something on Facebook which « should be a blog post ». Looking for research on that.

Mortality rates:

Mifepristone: 0.65/100,000
Penicillin 2/100K
Viagra 4/100K

Pregnancy in the US: 22/100,000 (some states see rates >60/100K)

More people have died in ICE detention centers already in 2026 than will die from mifepristone all year. These politicians are extremely dangerous to women.
Rep. Chris Smith: "The abortion pill -- mifepristone -- is baby poison ... we now know that the abortion bill -- we've long expected this -- is extremely dangerous to women" (this is a lie)

Another question I came here with was: how effective are the whistles and honking? Does it stop abductions? And the answer is, surprisingly to my cynical self, yes, and often. I have talked to so many people who have successfully interrupted kidnappings.

Ep 33 | Do I Need Birth Control or Hormone Therapy? — OvaryActive — Overcast
Birth control or hormone therapy? Why does this decision feel like a personality test you didn’t study for? In this episode of OvaryActive, the Docs tackle one of the most confusing (and hotly debated) topics in perimenopause: when birth control is actually the right choice, when menopausal hormone therapy makes more sense, and why TikTok might not be the best place for medical nuance. Dr. Rebecca Dunsmoor-Su and Dr. Amy Voedisch walk listeners through how clinicians actually think about this decision. The process includes contraceptive needs, bleeding patterns, symptom “greatest hits,” and medical history that actually matters. The Docs will guide you through the options and even cover what a combination approach might look like. Most importantly, shared decision-making, not social media panic, should guide treatment choices. This episode reminds you that perimenopause is real, complicated, and highly individual. And the right plan is the one that treats your physiology, not someone else’s algorithm. What…

Hi, looking for any "intelligence" on LLM use to participate in a Facebook group (impersonation). After a series of fishy comments (too much expertise, LLM layout and language tics), contacted user by DM, got fishy denial. How agent-like can a Facebook LLM bot be nowadays?
