Stepped Wedgehog (you won't be surprised to hear) posts on stepped wedge trials and related topics. Visit the website at https://steppedwedgehog.org.
To streamline and focus all of this great work, the two conference streams will be joining forces from 2027 onwards to form a single International Conference on Cluster Randomised & Stepped Wedge Trials.

A super-engaged (and expanding) group of people around the world are doing thoughtful research on how to do stepped wedge trials better.

There are currently TWO regular conference streams (never let it be said that I hog all the stepped wedges):

Yes, I think the stepped wedge might catch on.
YOU'VE GOT A WHOLE CONFERENCE NOW!?

The stepped wedge design came up in the #CCRDownUnder meeting last week so it seemed a good time to revisit the pros and cons of this design 1/6

A scoping review identified additional considerations for defining estimands in cluster randomised trials
An estimand is a clear description of the treatment effect a study aims to quantify. The ICH E9(R1) addendum lists five attributes that should be described when defining an estimand. However, the adde...

Lots of feedback and engagement after this session. Some gentle push-back still: "But what if there's even just a *perception* from sites that a stepped wedge is preferable?" 🧵

A useful reminder of the original meaning of a "stepped wedge".
Stepped aluminium wedge that would be placed on the x-ray film to determine density of exposure and a fluoroscope that would let doctors view x-ray images 'in real time' without the use of film, I don't want to imagine the damage that could cause.

Super happy to say that my first Biometrics article was published this week!😃 Along with Fan Li, Monica Taljaard, & Denise Esserman, we derive sample size & power formula for cross-sectional stepped-wedge trials with time-to-event outcomes, & explored the impact of finite sample variance corrections
