As it's my dad's two year anniversary today I thought I might post a poem about when he was a young man. I would have loved to have known him then & miss him terribly now.

The poem was published last summer in The MacGuffin & is a poem that means a lot to me.

Thanks for reading.

My last book, the multi-million selling A Quarter Dead and Half Alive, is currently half price direct from the publisher, Renard Press if anyone feels like reading some not too la-di-da poems. 🙂

Jane's Poetry Press - 2027. Callout for 2 (or maybe 3) poets.
I make poetry books for fun & to give poets a platform. I’m drawn to poets who have a friendly, supportive online presence and who actively encourage and uplift others in the poetry community. Being inclusive really matters to me.

This (pretty cranky) poem shares the pages of the incredible Madrid Review with some up-and-comers like Salman Rushdie & Jay McInerney. Remember the names! :)

Also, there are some signed copies of the last book in Dubray Books on Mary Street in Dublin.

Thanks for reading. :)

Absolutely flabbergasted to be back on BBC Upload last night. I was out at Amy Macdonald in Nottingham (fab), but caught up this morning. I've a poem on at about 9 minutes and you can hear it here: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... Many thanks to Jake Peach sitting in for Rob Jelly. A great surprise!

I was going to post something else today but this popped up on my Facebook memories from 10 years ago.

My daughter did the illustration. She is now studying animation and is probably a better artist than her father is a poet ❤️

This is a short poem published in the recent issue of the mighty Night Owl Narrative from Cajun Mutt Press.

How some people treat their children is heart shattering while Tusla (the child protection and welfare agency here in Ireland) do nothing.

Pasted against the nebulous backdrops of doubt and passing time, This Joyful Interlude assembles a delicate collage of hopes and romantic longings.

Thank you to @janes-studio.bsky.social for all your hard work and brilliance.
Thanks also to @steverinod.bsky.social for your lovely forward.

A couple of years ago Robin was not well for a few months and of course we were very worried. Happily she bounced back to herself but this poem is about how hard it was to shake the worry.

It was published in a recent issue of the always excellent Madrid Review.

Thanks for reading :)

How do you make a publisher blush? 😳

It was a real joy to see Sandi Toksvig’s show last night promoting Friends of Dorothy (Virago). We thought we were there to support @mayeroflondon.bsky.social, whose novel TIME/LIFE has been widely recommended by Sandi – but here’s what actually happened.
